My first for this year!

Christmas card - that is!
I have used 2 images from my Tim Holtz set, stamped in Adirondack Expresso. It goes well with the pale cream card. I distressed the edges a little.
I have used a piece of very old lace, and threaded it with some recycled gold ribbon. The holly is a punch and I added 3 red beads to finish.
Sorry the scan is a little crooked!.

Nautical

The present challenge at Opus Gluei is a beach theme, so I thought this one would be appropriate.
I have used an embossing folder, and highlighted the raised areas with a metallic paste. I have also coloured the scallop shell with copics and metallic paste as well. I layered it onto black card, after tearing the bottom edge and added a couple of diecut shells.

Pretty in Purple

Here is another lovely image from Crafty Individuals, which I have stamped with Shades ink pad from Sweet Stamps - purple majesty. I think she is probably from the 1920's or 1930's.
I decided not to colour in the image, as I rather liked it as it is.I have layered it onto a torn piece of  japanese paper, and then a piece of lace, a piece of a doiley, a diecut corner piece, and a little fabric flower.

Tag #2

My lovely new JOFY stamps arrived yesterday (thanks so much PaperArtsy for picking me as a prizewinner) and I couldn't wait to try them out. I have made another tag loosely following Darcy's one, but some of the products I don't have, so it is all about compromise. The centres of the flowers are actually coloured with blue pearl (Promarker) but the scan has not picked that up too well.
I will slip this one into the challenge at
PaperArtsy

Tag!

I had some spare time this afternoon so decided to have a practice at making this tag.
The original is on a blog post at Paper Artsy, and when I receive my set of JOFY stamps, I will have another attempt. This one was all about using what I have!
I will add it to the challenge  at

Summertime!

Here is a quick card that I needed to make for a wee boy. I have embossed the yellow and the blue with an embossing folder, and then diecut the yacht in various colours and pieced it together. The 'hi' is also a cuttlebug folder. I added a little extra colour to the 'sea' and the 'summer sky'

pretty pendant

Thanks to following the Paper Artsy blog, I got out my shrink plastic and had a little play, to make this pendant.
I first painted with some Folk Art paint and next day stamped with my CI 320 stamp with Brilliance graphite black. I added a little colour to the flowers, leaves, and the bird with copics, and, after shrinking, then added about 4 coats of Utee, which has made the scan get a reflection in it!

Vintage

I had fun making this card with a CI stamp that had not yet seen ink! It is such a pretty image -  clothes from possibly around the 1880's' I coloured it with a mixture of chalk pastels, promarkers and copics. Then cut around it and layered onto a piece of DP.
I have edged it with a border diecut in black and a pretty piece of old lace. Then trimmed with some old silk ribbon, a flower and an eiffel tower cut on my Cameo.

A new style for me!

This is way out of my comfort zone, but I had such fun playing with various distress inks, bubble wrap, stencils, smooch, and my new Tim Holtz stamp set - Curious Possibility.- the base is kraft card. It started off to be a tag, but then I turned it into a card instead. I have also shown the inside and the back as well
The inspiration came from Brenda Brown at Bumblebees and Butterflies and Paper Artsy.

First card for a while!

Today's card follows a sketch from Cardmaking Paradise. I have not been able to join in many of the sketch challenges, as we have been away too much!
The background paper is a pretty piece of Washi paper, and all edges are sponged with Inkadinkadoo Black Noir ink pad. The plain mauve piece is embossed with swiss dots folder, and the circle is cut out with scallop circles. A piece of mauve ribbon is set across the centre. I have added a sparkle to the flower with a Sakura pen, but it doesn't show in the scan.

For this card I have used a CB die for the snippet of dark purple card. My butterflies are cut from some bg paper I made by spraying Dylusions in a couple of colours and also some Glimmer mist. Black base card layered with some old music, then a cream card embossed with the script folder. The edges are inked with DI antique linen and walnut stain. The chocolate was in image that I printed, and also edged with the same DI

Blues!!

I have not had much chance to blog my cards during the holidays, but now visitors have gone, so today is the day!
This beautiful stamp is  from Elegant Spring Flowers set by Chocolate Baroque. I stamped and clear embossed it on a white tag, and then rubbed over it with Brilliance Pearlescent Sky Blue ink pad. The stamped image pops right out with this technique. I rubbed a little ink around the edge of the card, and attached some wee blue tags finished with  blue rhinestones. I then added a beautiful die cut that I won in a prize from Dies to Die for.

Happy New Year

I had to make some New Year cards so took the opportunity to enter some challenges.
The card is embossed with Sizzix 'texture fade' I then highlighted the design by embossing with a sparkly EP. A new technique - it really makes the design stand out)  I then layered it onto white card (but not crooked like this scan shows!!) The letters have also been embossed with Ebony Shimmer EP. In real life this is so sparkly and festive, but it is extremely difficult to show it from a scan.

Cracked Glass

Today's card features a technique that we learned at card class a wee while ago.
This is the first time I have tried it at home.
I stamped on the butterfly shape with a cherry blossom stamp, and coloured it with distress inks. I then used 3 coats of UTEE, and when it had cooled I then 'cracked' it and rubbed a little distress ink into the cracks to make them stand out.
The DP is from The Scrap Cake - One moment in time pad.
The die is Memory Box - Madera corner

I am entering this in the challenge at Sweet Stamps for cracked glass.

Sorry for my slightly crooked scan!!
I have based this card on one we did at class this week, as I really liked the style.
I cut a circle with my cb in a piece of white card, slightly smaller than the base card. Then embossed it with swiss dots EF, wrapped it with a piece of black & white ribbon. I then layered it with mounting tape, after stamping the words.
The flowers are from R & R Pocock Ltd, called lillies. I stamped it twice with Studio G - white and embossed with clear EP,and then coloured with Marvy markers.

Cool and Festive Sparkles

I am afraid my scan does not show the beautiful gold 'sparkliness' of this card. It looks so much nicer in real life!!
I stamped the music background (CI 194) with Encore gold and then spritzed with Glimmer Mist iridescent gold.
The lovely girl was stamped with Brilliance lightning black and then trimmed. I added some wings which were printed on velum, and the circular message was layed on a scalloped circle, edged with gold glitter glue.

Fireworks!!

The challenge this week at One Stop Craft Challenges is to use a fireworks theme or colours.
I have used an embossing folder on my handmade backing paper, which I coloured with Dylusions and and Moon Glow's Glitz Spritz. I added some extra sparkle with a Twinklette pen, but it doesn't show up too well in the scan. The orange flower is a peeloff from Starform Stickers, and the best wishes peeloff has been in my craft stash for a long time (I coloured it with a black marker.
The embossed folder looks like an exploding firework to me!.
